Sorry to tell you
Chip did not make it--we found that he was gone (for sure) yesterday morning, I'm just thankful that we made his short life a little more comfortable!
That is really sad about Chip Jen. What a shame he didn't make it. We try so hard for these poor little creatures but sometimes it is just not enough.
I rescued a little baby sparrow from my cat Jack the other day. It couldn't fly and we assumed that its mum would feed it.We left it hidden under a bush in the garden but I think Jack must have found it again because we found a lot of feathers on the ground the next day. Nature seems to have slipped up with young birds that leave the nest and cannot fly sadly. They are at the mercy of all sorts of predators. Still as you say you made Chip's last days comfortable.
