It's my birthday!

Happy Birthday to me!

I'm a bit older than this picture, but actually feel better and am healthier then way back when!  I workout 6 days a week, stopped smoking a long time ago, and just am an all around a happier person!

Now if I could just stop gravity!

I call her little sis since she's a few weeks younger than me!

I even stopped at Dunkin Donuts this morning...not for me!  Dropped them off at my favorite post office for all they do!

Yummy Vegetarian Dinner

Katherine's Vegetarian Creation

Not made by me, but made my adorable 18 year old daughter, Katherine, the vegetarian!  She's been a vegetarian for several years, and she's learned how to incorporate plenty of protein and other nutrients a growing girl needs (along with help from her pediatrician)!

Last night she made this healthy meal, and it is so good, I knew I had to share it.  I'm not a food photographer, so my picture does not do it justice!  She even arranged it on a cute white square plate!

We need to come up with a cute name for her veggie creation!  I mixed all mine up and ate it that way!

Frozen veggies

Includes lentils, a frozen veggie mix (any kind you like), and my favorite Trader Joe's Harvest Grains Blend, which has a healthy, delicious blend of couscous, orzo, baby garbanzo beans & red quinoa!

Believe me, I love a good filet mignon every now and then, but Katherine's creations are so good too!

You can eat healthy, it can still be quick and easy, and tasty too!

Right Back to Work!

Sold!

I've never worked so hard since I started my 3 Etsy shops!  But I've also never been happier!

I'm not saying it's always fun fun fun, it is a lot of work!  Like today, when I had an order from one customer, a large order, both from my milk glass shop and "jenscloset"!  It took all morning to gather up everything (and actually find it pretty easily), wrap it up safe & sound (since it's all fragile items), box it up, and finally get it shipped out! 

Wow, it's 2:00!  I really didn't even realize I had been working this long on this order!  I'd say it took me about 4 hours to get all of it packed up!  Six boxes of lovely vintage items!

So, it's time for a break, right!? Wrong!  Time to start listing again, and hopefully have another big sale!

I rarely stop!  I will take a break in a few hours to workout at the rec center, great stress reliever!

Vintage clip earrings are so versatile!  Used as earrings, shoe clips, one added to a retro chain as a pendant, and even hooked to spaghetti straps to turn your favorite little black dress into something a little more than basic!

Happy Mother's Day!

I'm tired!  But I had fun! 

First, I did my usual Sunday morning spin class, and a little run.

Then, the real workout came!  Clothes shopping with my youngest child (Katherine), the only one still home, just about all day!  We had so much fun and we both ended up with some cute things!

Then my husband (Bob), Katherine & I went out to dinner at our favorite little Italian place, Bucci's!

Time really goes by so quick (or is it quickly?).  I swear my kids were just little teenie things!

And before I knew it, they had grown up!  How does this happen!?

This was taken last year, when Mark was a senior, Katherine was a junior, and the were off to prom, along with my oldest daughter and best bud, Lindsey!  Yes-my baby, Katherine, is taller than my oldest, Lindsey!

I can't have a Mother's Day blog without mentioning my another best friend of mine, who happens to be my Mom!  My Mom came over every afternoon to help with my two little baby's, that were so close in age (14 months apart), and we just had the best time! 

This is my Mom!  What an amazing Mom she was!  She did not come from the easiest of childhoods, and really did not have much of a role model when it came to being a Mom.  She read books, she taught herself, and she raised 5 wonderful kids (if I might say so myself).  What a devoted Mom!  She wasn't without her eccentricities!  (and I don't even know if I spelled that right) That's what made her so much fun!  This picture happens to be one I keep on my nightstand, that's why it looks a bit worn.  It's her with her at her favorite restaurants, ChiChi's, she even had her favorite waiter, Patrick, who actually came to her funeral.  I'm just saying, I would not have wanted to be her customer! She had to have her usual glasses of ice water and decaf coffee, and everything had to be just right!

My best friend, who happens to also be my Mom, passed away unexpectedly in August of 1994.  It seems like yesterday.  What got me through that was writing a journal, actually, writing letters to my Mom.  I wanted to make sure she knew I was okay, and I didn't want her to worry about me.  I knew she would.

What helps me now is just thinking of how much fun we had, laughing at the silliest of things!

She truly was the best Mom, and I'm lucky I had such a wonderful role model!

Thanks Mom, and thanks to my 3 wonderful kids!
