I'm Cleaning

Not to obsess about twitter... well actually I will obsess about twitter! It's down! This is awful! I had to start cleaning the house! I didn't know what to do with myself!

It was actually a good thing twitter was down! My daughter, Katherine, had a big birthday party here (to celebrate her 17th birthday)...lots of teenagers, and a big mess to clean up!

I have to say, all of her friends are very nice! I could only get one quick picture, I didn't want to be the old lady hanging out with the kids, so I snapped this one real quick, while Katherine was opening a gift.

I did have Katherine introduce me to everyone, since there were quite a few I've heard mention of, but didn't know what they looked like, so that was fun!

I know you've heard this a million times, but it is true, your kids grow up so quick! Katherine is my baby, and I cannot believe my baby is 17! There's a lot I miss about the younger years! I loved the cuddle time and reading books to them! But the teenager years are also fun! My son Mark is 18, Katherine is 17, and Lindsey is 26 (wow!). They're nice people and that's what I'm so proud of! I'd like to think I had something to do with that!

And if twitter's not up later today, I will be posting another blog!

I'm Telling You I Love Twitter

I had to explain twitter to someone today. A non-twitter person really does believe we just tweet about what kind of sandwich we are eating at the moment.

I try to explain that, for me, one reason I love twitter, is the friends I meet there! Since I work at home, I think of them as my cubicle friends! I chat with them just as I would chat if I was at an office in one of those stuffy cubicle things.

Anyways...one of my good twitter friends, has been so sweet to RT my links and promote my blogs, so I wanted to give her a big shout out!

I love vintage and that is why I now have 3 vintage shops! I also love this great vintage Etsy shop http://www.vintageeye.etsy.com check it out! I love that she has a section just for guys! After all, men love vintage too!

Plus...Kathleen also has a fantastic sense of humor! Don't take my word for it, just check her twitter at http://www.twitter.com/vintageeye fun fun!

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Buy From Etsy!

From gifts to personal items, Etsy has just about everything you could possibly want or need!

Everyone uses soap, right!? (well you should)...check out http://www.morganstreet.etsy.com/ for not only gorgeous looking soap, but also high quality and oh-so-fragrant! Right now I'm using the Patchouli Essential Oil Soap. It holds up well and lasts forever! I also purchased the Solid Sugar Scrub (which I love!) and the cute bars of "Girls Night Out" soaps, which I haven't used yet-but they smell great too!

Another thing most of us need, especially if we love to cook, is potholders! I recently purchased an oven mitt and two pot holders with the cutest rooster pattern from http://www.sewinggranny.etsy.com/ ! These are perfect! The mitt is lined and even has a ring attached so it can be hung up for easy access!

I love my Etsy purchases! I will continue to buy from Etsy and I highly recommend you check them out! Don't forget they also have great vintage shops (including mine)!

Happy Shopping!

I'm here!

I'm here! Wow! It's been awhile since I updated my blog!

Been busy with my three Etsy shops! If you follow me on twitter you know that I have a stress fracture on my ankle, which bums me out because I can't do my usual workouts!

So let's see...oh, I know! My next blog will be about two Etsy shops that I love and have purchased from! I try to blog about my Etsy purchases. If you haven't shopped on Etsy what are you waiting for!? http://www.etsy.com/ amazing amazing talent there...and of course, amazing amazing vintage shops (including mine!).

You can purchase everything from handmade soap, jewelry, ceramics, artwork...and so much more! I love Etsy because they welcome not only handmade items, but vintage items as well! Anything over 20 years old is considered vintage on Etsy.

Take a few minutes to visit Etsy and do a search on anything and see what you come up with! I'm betting you will be pleasantly surprised!

Happy Shopping!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!! Don't forget...it's Sunday!

I received some great gifts today!

In the mail, from my daughter, Lindsey...I received a gorgeous hand knitted pink and lacy shawl (yep-made my her!!). Thank you so much Lindsey! and no, Lindsey, I haven't picked up the crochet project you started for me at Christmas time!

Also--I want to congratulate my daughter Lindsey for her big promotion at work!! Way to go!!

Now, for a gift I just received from my very sweet and thoughtful husband, Bob!! Bubble wrap!! Yes, you heard that correctly...bubble wrap! I use a ton for my shops http://www.jenscloset.etsy.com/ http://www.mymilkglassshop.etsy.com/ and my brand new shop (already had my first order!) http://www.thechinagirl.etsy.com/ !! And he also gave me gorgeous fresh flowers-which I also love to use when I taking pics of things I'm listing in my shops! I just love fresh flowers! They cheer up these snowy days!
I also included a picture of cute valentine bags my daughter, Katherine (16), filled with her homemade sugar cookies! I didn't get a chance to take pics of the decorated cookies, but believe me..she's like a mini-martha (yeah, martha stewart)..let's just say she's a little particular with the decorating of the cookies, and I'm not really allowed to help!

So Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Remember, it's the little things that you do throughout the year that really mean the most...but, of course, we also love receiving gifts on this love-filled holiday!!

Bionicles

Yes-that's why I said! Bionicles! My 12 year old adorable nephew, Bobby is here, and he brought some of his Bionicle creations! I am amazed at how quickly he can create these guys!

They don't have names (yeah, I was silly enough to ask him that).

Bobby has always been very good at creating Legos and Bionicles! Even when he was very little he would take the instructions and study them (so cute)...and then like magic, make a Lego master piece!

I, on the other hand, would not even attempt to even think I could possibly make anything! I'll leave that work up to Bobby!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Mother's Day!

Yes, I know it's not Mother's Day! But we can still celebrate our Mom's, celebrate being a Mom, celebrate someone that you miss and the wonderful times you had together!

The first time I heard the song "The Promise" by Tracy Chapman, I was in spin class. I teared up just a bit, but since I was in spin class, it wasn't a full fledged cry! All I could think about was my Mom; my best friend.

Today, in spin class, the instructor remembered I liked the song and played it again. Some songs just seem like my Mom wrote them to make me feel better. She passed away in 1994 suddenly and my heart is still broken.

I had moved back here from Colorado in 1989, with my 5 year old daughter, after getting a divorce. Since that time we were the best of friends. She was a devoted Mom and Grandmother. She would pick up my daughter, Lindsey, everyday from school, and she would do fun things with her! Putt-putt golf, McDonalds, etc!

After I remarried in 1991 and proceeded to have two wonderful children (very close in age), my Mom continued to help in so many ways! She would come over everyday, exactly the same time, so I could pick up Lindsey at school and she would stay with the babies (Mark and Katherine who are now 18 and almost 17!).

We were always laughing about something. For example, she brought her food processor over for me and gave me demonstration of how to use it. So there she goes putting carrot sticks in the food processor, and she forgot one little step, a cover! We had carrot pieces flying all over the kitchen (don't worry, the kids weren't in the room), we were screaming and laughing at the same time!

My Mom was a devoted Mom to five children. She didn't really have a role model for being a good Mom, but amazingly she was!

She was always a lady, and I see my oldest daughter, Lindsey, in her so much!

What I'm trying to say is, appreciate the time you have with your Mom, your kids, the people you love and treasure them!

And know the ones that are not here with us, are still in our heart. That helps me.

Check out the song "The Promise" by Tracy Chapman, I think it will make you think of someone in your life.

Take care!

Jen
