Gratitude

I started a thread last Sunday on gratitude. It's easy to forget how lucky we are!

It all started during spin class, it was an hour and half endurance class and I forgot my towel-and you sweat a lot! So I had to get by on paper towels, not so great.

But all I kept thinking about was how lucky I am...my worst problem for the day would be that I forgot my towel at spin class and had to use paper towels...boo hoo!!
So when I got home (after a shower, in case you're wondering!)...I started a thread on Etsy about gratitude. What a fantastic reponse I got! So many people jumped in with there stories of gratitude, most grateful for their families, of course. Some very touching and moving stories about someone who had just lost their grandmother and how she was worried about how her sister would cope, but she was grateful that her sister was doing ok. Another person was grateful her mom had come of of brain surgery and was doing better.

So...when you're upset about some little thing that has happened during the day, stop and think. What are you grateful for? You'll be surprised at how many things you can think of!

Just Here to Say Hello!

I feel so bad that I've neglected my poor blog!

I have a goal...this week, I will set up an interview that I promised a fellow-Etsyian that I would do a couple of months ago! I hope I can find her and get it going!

Does anyone have any clever questions I can ask? No, not "If you were a tree, what kind would you be"!

Don't forget, Halloween is Friday! Are you dressing up? Going to a party? Let me know what you're up to!

My 15 minutes of Fame

Such excitement Wednesday when I came home for lunch! I did my usual checking of my Etsy shop, and logged off, so I could log onto my other shop (http://www.mymilkglassshop.com/ ), and before I logged back, I noticed my plates on the front page of Etsy, in a treasury! Okay...so that was exciting enough!

Then, I started receiving convos telling me my plates were in the Etsy Storque email, which I hadn't checked earlier...and there it was!

I received so many nice message from other Etsyians, and pics of my treasury!

I'm going to try to attach one of the pics right now-here goes-

okay-that one didn't work-let's try this-
okay-still having trouble!

Never mind...anyways, it was exciting, take my word on that! You can probably find it on flickr, there's a place where someone keeps a snapshot of all of the front page treasuries!
Have a good weekend,
Jen

It's Wednesday...what are you up to!?

I don't really have anything to say, but I've neglected my blog long enough, so I wanted to say hi to all of my nice blog friends that have left me a comment...thank you so much!!
I just sold this darling embroidery piece...I just love it!
It's Wednesday, which means it's off to work (Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my work days). It's a very small office, which is kind of nice. Definitely a lot different from a larger company, where they don't even know who you are! The owner of the company will call me into his office, and right away I think, "Oh no, what did I do wrong!?", but Pat will say, "pull up a chair, what's new!?"...and that's it, no hidden agenda, just a nice guy. This guy is a go-getter too! I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the company is all about, but I've kind of got it figured out! They are marketing reps for other ventrigular pump and electrical parts companies, or is it fentrigular, oh, whatever, I just know it has nothing to do with the pumps I love to wear!
Anwyays, I admire Pat's tenacity; he's always selling and it motivates me to push harder with my Etsy shop!
Okay, that's it, gotta go!
I wish everyone the best of luck...enjoy the rest of your week!

It's Friday!

I just thought I'd tell you that in case you didn't know! Yep! It's Friday! I hope everyone had a good week...with all this negative talk about the economy, things seem to be a little slower for everyone in regards to their shops. It just means you have to get out there and market your shop a little more!

I have been shopping (again!), and found some great new things to add to my shop. My problem is...I have enough! Wait, I'll change that, I have TOO much, and it's taking over my house! I'm thinking of having a Christmas Open House and people can check out my lovely vintage items in person..and maybe I can sell my overstocked inventory!

Has anyone had an open house tell sell things? I have helped my daughter with several jewelry parties and those were always very successful! And they're fun! We always brought a bottle of wine as a thank you to the hostess, and plus, depending on the total sales, she would get a discount on what she purchased! It's just one big fun party, where you actually make money too!

So today I will go to my usual Friday morning Bosu class (ever heard of Bosu?), and after that I will try to take some more pictures and get a few more things listed. I may stop in to my new place of employment to chat with the other girl in the office. She just got back from Europe, and her boyfriend proposed to her in the Eiffel Tower, try to beat that one! How romantic! So I need to chat with her to get all the details! We usually don't work together, I work the days she doesn't work, so I try to get in when she's there so we can chat, and I haven't seen her for a couple of weeks, so that will be nice!

Take care everyone!!

The Pyrex That Got Away!

It's haunting me!! I went to a church rummage sale yesterday, hoping to find some great Pyrex pieces! When I arrived, 15 minutes before opening, there was already quite a line of people waiting to get in! I started talking with everyone around me, and one nice lady had been to this sale every year for quite awhile, so she knew her way around! I told her my interest was in glass and kitchenware, and she told me exactly where to go!

So I went to the correct room, and found some fabulous milk glass, but alas, no Pyrex to be seen anywhere! Well...that is, until I was in line to pay, and there, right in front of me...yes, I could have touched it...was the prettiest Pink Oval Casserole with a lid....for $1.00. Yes, you heard me right, $1.00! But it belonged to the lady in front of me...oh how I wish I would have offered her a little more for it, maybe she would have done it! I happened to be looking around on Etsy, and there it was, like a tease, someone had listed one just yesterday (in another state, so it couldn't have been that lady!).

So, I need to move on and forget about it! Good news is I did find some pretty things! Some beautiful china that I will list soon!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend..the weather here was gorgeous! Sunny and the perfect temperature..just cool enough!

Best wishes to all!

More Pictures

Whoops, I wanted to add these pics too!

It's Dinner Time!

First, I would like to say how excited I am to have some many of you interested in my little hen! But it's going to make me sad that only one of you can win...so I am definitely going to have another giveway!

I love to cook! I find it's usually healthier and cheaper, just to make it myself. Don't get me wrong..I love to eat dinner out occassionally. We have a favorite tiny little Italian restaurant that we love, called Bucci's. I usually get pasta primavera there!

I decided to take some pictures of the dinner I made tonight, but I really can't take good night pictures, they were either too bright with the flash, or too dark w/out the flash. I'm hoping to find somewhere to take photography lessons. Okay...anyways..just use your imagination! I'm adding some of the pics even though they're a little blurry..the food was good and that's what counts!

I made a spinach salad (I love spinach) and added red pepper, radishes, celery, red onion, strawberries (yes, strawberries), green olives and black olives, yummy little tomatoes...I know I'm missing something, but anyways..it was so good! Oh...and notice the size differences in the salads!? My husband has been having stomach problems so he can't eat too much at one time..so sad!

I also love to make salad dressing..just use your imagination!! It's healthier, and again, less expensive! I just added some red wine vinegar, some gourmet mustard, honey, and olive oil, a little garlic salt, and pepper, and whisked that up!

For the scallops, we had the small ones. I started with olive oil and just a touch of butter (gotta have it~!)..cooked the scallops on medium heat for maybe about 4 minutes, then turned them over and cooked them for awhile on the other side..I like them to get a little brown crust on them. I also added some red onion, but I have also sauted up a bunch of veggies and put that over the scallops or salmon (my favorite).
Oh--and be sure to sprinkle fresh lemon on the scallops! I used some really pretty...and very old..bowls that were my Grandmothers...use your pretty stuff..I keep having to remind myself to do that!

How's that!?

Please feel free to share recipes!! I'm addicted to the food channel..it is always on in our house!
